About The Leather Repair Paints

Our leather repair paint colours were developed for colour repairs, restorations, and applications that require a total change in colour. We created them with a high pigment level, allowing for significantly better coverage than any other product on the market. In most circumstances, one or two applications are sufficient enough to complete the task to a high standard.

The leather repair paint colours provide excellent UV protection, have waterproof properties, are exceptionally flexible, and have excellent pigment adherence. The leather colours give your item a feel that is considerably better than when it was first produced, so you can be guaranteed that your newly restored leather goods will last for years to come.

The Leather Repair Company leather repair paint colours can be used on leather furniture, antique furniture, equestrian leathers, chairs/sofas, leather jackets, handbags, car interior, vintage cars, classic car seats, shoes, boots, carry bags, leather phone case and more.

Not suitable for use on suede, nubuck, or aniline leather finishes.

Instructions

The Leather Steering Wheel and Scuff repair kit are perfect for smaller repairs and restoration work brilliantly on steering wheels, car seats, furniture, jackets, handbags and shoes. A fantastic kit to carry out leather repairs to scratches, scuffs, colour loss and sun sun-damaged areas. All our repair and restoration kits are a simple stage system giving you fantastic, professional results, it’s what our technicians all around the world use every day.

Step 1

Fold a soft cloth inside the red emery pad. Apply the leather prep to the cloth generously. Next, apply leather prep to the red emery pad. Proceed to rub onto the leather surface while wet to start removing the leather colour. Repeat this process until all of the colour has been removed enough to give a good adhesion with the new paint that is going to be applied in step 2. You should be able to just see the leather hide itself once the colour has been removed sufficiently. Any repairs that are required to be carried out, like fillers or tears, should be done at this stage, before proceeding to stage 2.

Step 2

Apply some colourant to an applicator pad and wipe in to form a base layer, this is just to act as a primer coat, so it does not matter how it looks at this stage. Next apply more colour to the sponge applicator and apply with a stippling motion to the surface to get a fantastic even covering layer. Between coats you can lightly sand with 1200 grit paper to remove any imperfections. 2 to 3 coats should be all that is required to re-colour your areas. It is best to apply thinner layers of colour giving you a natural look and feel. Use a hair dryer between coats to thoroughly dry the painted layers. If you wish to use a spray gun you can spray this after you have wiped on the first coat.

Step 3

Apply the lacquer to a sponge applicator and stipple this on, dry with a hair dryer and between each coat, 3 coats will be all that is required. Once you have applied 3 coats of clear sealer, lightly polish with the 3000 grit paper to give a beautiful smooth soft-to-the-touch finish to your newly restored leather item. If you wished to use a spray gun you can spray this on without the need to stipple.
